After Francis Haugen, another former activist has agreed to testify in the US Congress. He tweeted that he wanted to highlight the controversial activities of Facebook. At the same time, she has provided internal documents to US law enforcement.
The former employee, Sofing Zhang, is a former Facebook data scientist. After working for almost three years, she lost her job from Facebook in 2020. She said that she was fired from Facebook, citing unsatisfactory work.
Zhang wrote a long memo after losing her job. There, she said, Facebook does not care much about stopping the promotion of fake and hateful content in small and developing countries. BuzzFeed News and the Guardian later reported on it.
Zhang told CNN in an interview that Frances Haugen’s testimony had given her the courage to support US lawmakers. She has given detailed documents to the law enforcement. These are now under investigation.
