The business model of Dhamaka Shopping.com was to hold and remove the money of the customers and vendors following ‘hold money process plan’. They had no investment of their own in this business. Following the Hold Money Process Plan, Dhamaka Shopping.com developed its business strategy in the light of attractive offers from several local and foreign e-commerce companies. They do not have a trade license even. As a result, the money paid by ordinary customers went to the account of Invariant Telecom, a Dhaka based software development company. As a result, even though the customer had a transaction of Tk 750 crore, but now there is only around one lakh rupees in Dhamakar’s account.
RAB spokesperson Commander Moin said this on the basis of the information received after the initial interrogation of the three detained officers of Dhamaka Shopping.com.
He said this at a press conference held at the media center of this elite force on Wednesday.
According to the RAB, the company owes about Tk 180-190 crore to the vendors and Tk 150 crore to the customers. Under interrogation, the detainees said the organization’s office and depot rent has been in arrears for the past few months due to the financial crisis; Besides, the salaries of the employees are due from June 2021. Since April this year, all activities have been closed since July due to the relocation of Dhamaka Shopping.com. Apart from Dhamaka Shopping.com, they have several other businesses, such as Invariant Telecom Bangladesh Limited, Microtrade Food and Beverage Limited and Microtrade Isix Limited. The main purpose of the organization is to extract huge amount of money from the manufacturer and customer chain or network.
Meanwhile, Sirajul Islam Rana, Imtiaz Hasan Sabuj and Ibrahim Swapan, who were arrested from Tejgaon area of the capital during a raid by the intelligence branch of RAB headquarters and RAB-2, were produced before reporters on Wednesday morning.
