The Ministry of Commerce of the Government of Bangladesh organized a special meeting with the business leaders of the private sector on the occasion of the 6-month long international exhibition to be held in Dubai from October 1 to March 31. Hon’ble Minister of Commerce Tipu Munshi presided over the meeting.
In a special meeting held at the conference room of the Commerce Ministry on Wednesday, BASIS President Syed Almas Kabir called for re-branding of Bangladesh.
BASIS President Syed Almas Kabir said Bangladesh is known all over the world, including the Middle East, as a country of cheap and unskilled workers. Bangladesh is now on its way to emerge as a developing to developed country under the able guidance of Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. In the meantime, we have been able to successfully build a digital Bangladesh. It is the time now to re-brand that country of cheap labor as a country of skilled manpower. Bangladesh has more than 1 million skilled manpower in IT and ITES sector.
This expo to be held in Dubai is a great opportunity to present Bangladesh in a new way to the world. Arrangements have to be made to showcase digital products and services made in Bangladesh at this expo. So that the country can be presented to the world anew as a country of skilled manpower. At the same time, the President of BASIS also expressed his desire to hold a B2B meeting on this international platform.
The meeting was chaired by Commerce Ministry Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh.
