The High Court has directed the government to introduce biometric system gradually in all prisons and police stations in the country to identify the culprits properly in the cases. The directive was issued on Thursday. Declaring the rule issued in this regard appropriate, the High Court Division Bench comprising Justice M. Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md. Mostafizur Rahman passed the order as appropriate.
Advocate Mohammad Shishir Monir heard the appeal in the court. Deputy Attorney General Bipul Bagmar represented the state.
The Home Ministry has been asked to take necessary steps to introduce biometric data management system by storing the fingerprints, palms and eyeballs of the accused.
The High Court said that after the arrest of an accused, the faces of the accused should be saved in the data bank.
