With the introduction of built-in satellite call and messaging facility on iPhone, it will be possible to maintain communication even while camping in remote areas without any cell service. The user will not need to purchase a separate satellite communicator.
A modified version of Qualcomm’s X60 modem may be used on the iPhone to facilitate satellite communication. Although the satellite feature will be limited to a few apps, this feature is not surprising on the iPhone. Mobile satellite services are several times slower than conventional cellular data. In addition, many people do not have the opportunity to use Internet-based apps in satellite services.
In 2019, Bloomberg reported that Apple is developing satellite technology for the iPhone. However, it was mentioned that the product with this technology could come in the market within five years. With less than two years to go, the new news confirms Bloomberg’s claim.
Note that Apple may unveil the new iPhone lineup next September. But this is not yet confirmed at this time, whether this facility will be incorporated only with model Pro or in all the ranges of iPhone.
