The drone will reach a destination 10 km away with 200 vials of vaccine weighing 50 grams each without any human contact. The six-winged quadruple drone can carry vaccines and load and unload safely in an automated manner by controlling the temperature to 2-8 degrees Celsius for the corona vaccine.
With this innovative robot concept for the changing world due to the Corona pandemic, the ‘Aer-O-Vacx’ of ‘Cognizance 21’, one of South Asia’s techfest organized by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in neighboring India has been won by Khulna University of Engineering and Technology team ‘Okutovoy’ – the fearless. Carbon fiber is being used to make the drone lightweight and durable.
Ignoring Corona’s fears, in the midst of lockdown, 4 second-year students of the Mechanical Engineering Department of KUET have succeeded in the techfest joining online.
‘Okutovoy’ is going to make a prototype of this robot for the country as soon as the semester finals are over.
Teammates Zahid Hasan, Shahinur Hasnat Rahat and Ayaz Al Abrar have worked with team leader Niloy Nath on the design and coding of the drone.
Under the close supervision of Dr. Md. Helal Al Nahyan, Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering in KUET, the young innovators managed to innovate through personal efforts but they have to wait until the end of the semester to implement the project.
“And since you have to buy some equipment to make the drone that requires patronage.” Professor Dr. Helal Al Nahyan has emphasized allocating adequate allocation to the labs of the university to show the light of the projects that have won international awards.
Niloy Nath, the team leader thinks that the drone they invented is a blessing for the world because of the extreme Corona pandemic situation. However, he is keen to use the drone to deliver vaccines to remote areas of the country such as Bandarban, Rangamati, Khagrachari and remote rural areas of the country in a short time without the risk of any kind of infection.
Another member of the group, Zahid Hasan, said that despite winning the international award, a big challenge for implementing the project is to collect the estimated cost of building the drone which is around taka 3 lakh.
A new door will be opened to introduce Bangladesh as a drone-inventing nation in the world if vaccines can be transported in remote areas safely and quickly through implementing the project designed by ‘Okutovoy’ – the fearless.
