Bangladeshi superbrand Walton has announced a multi-crore taka scholarship for students. From June 1, students who purchase a Walton laptop, computer, tablet PC, desktop or all-in-one computer will have a guaranteed scholarship. Under this project, the laptop division of Walton DG-Tech Industries Limited will provide at least Tk 1 crore to the students in the next three months. In this case, students will get a scholarship ranging from Tk 2,000 to a maximum of Tk 1 lakh for each Walton digital device purchase.
On this occasion, an inaugural function was organized on Sunday (May 30, 2021) at Walton Corporate Office in Bashundhara following proper hygiene rules. The ‘Walton Laptop Crore Taka Scholarship’ project was inaugurated by the Minister of Education Dr. Dipu Moni. State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Zakir Hossain was also present as the special guest.
Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni said that even though the educational institutions are closed due to the corona pandemic, online and television teaching is on. However, due to the lack of adequate digital devices, it was not possible to reach 100% of the students. In this case, Walton’s multi-crore scholarship and interest-free installment facility will make digital devices easily available. Walton’s initiative is highly commendable. This is good news for students and the education system as well.
She added that Walton is a domestic company, a superbrand. Walton has been pioneering in the digital device sector; Leading in this sector. Walton is making a significant contribution in taking Digital Bangladesh forward. I wish them success.
State Minister Zakir Hossain said Walton has been producing digital devices in Bangladesh since 2017. They are meeting the demand of the country as well as exporting digital devices. As a result, Bangladesh is being branded. We hope that like the Garments sector, the technology sector also will be one of the export sources of Bangladesh through Walton.
SM Rezaul Alam, Chairman, Walton DG-Tech Industries Limited presided over the function while Engineer Golam Murshed, Managing Director, Walton Hi-Tech Industries Limited was also present as a guest.
Nazrul Islam Sarkar, Deputy Managing Director, Walton Hi-Tech Industries Limited, Eva Rezwana Nilu, Emdadul Haque Sarkar and Humayun Kabir, Mohammad Raihan, CEO, Walton Plaza Trade, Firoz Alam, Chief Marketing Officer were also present among others. Azizul Hakim, the Executive Director conducted the program.

Engineer Golam Murshed said the project was launched to ensure that not a single student is deprived due to a lack of digital devices. We want everyone to be enlightened in the light of education. When the nation is educated and the quality and rate of education increases, Bangladesh’s position in the world will be at the top. Walton’s glorious journey has already begun in the global market. Our goal is to represent Bangladesh in the world in electronics and technology products very soon.
Speaking on the occasion, Liaquat Ali, Deputy Managing Director, Walton DG-Tech Industries Limited and CEO, Digital Products, said that the ‘Crore Taka Scholarship Scheme’ was launched to facilitate students’ online education in the midst of the Corona pandemic. Besides, 12 months installment facility is being given at zero interest for buying digital devices for students. As a result, students can easily run their educational activities at home.
He said students will register digitally with their own or their parents’ mobile number after purchasing a laptop, computer, tablet PC, desktop or all-in-one computer from any Walton showroom in the country.
Then an SMS will be sent to their mobile informing the amount of scholarship money through software-controlled automated processing. They will be able to receive scholarship money in cash or adjust the price of the purchased product.
