A year later, the Mango Special Train started plying from Chapainawabganj to Dhaka again. The train will carry mango at 1 taka 30 paisa per kg till the capital city. In addition to mangoes, five wagons can carry any type of parcel goods including mangoes and vegetables.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the train on May 27 by clicking on the wireless mouse being connecting through the virtual medium from Ganobhaban; not by waving flags and flutes. In the first shipment, the train left for Dhaka with 215 metric tons of mango.
Railway minister Md. Nurul Islam Sujan was connected from Magura Railway station at this time to lay down the foundation stone of the Magura bound rail line from Madhukhali to Kamarkhali.
At the Chapainawabganj railway station end, Dr. Samil Uddin Shimul, MP, Chapainawabgonj-1, Ferdousi Islam Jessey, Member of Parliament for the reserved women’s seat, Mihir Kanti Guha, General Manager, Railway Rajshahi West Zone, Sardar Shahadat Ali, Additional Director General (Operations), Railways, Md. Manjurul Hafeez and Superintendent of Police AHM Abdur Rakib and other concerned officials were present.
