Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has changed the guidelines of the International Gateway (IGW).
According to the new guidelines, IGW licensees will be able to exchange calls through the TDM interface as well as the IP interface.
The information was given in a notice signed on May 19 by BTRC’s Legal and Licensing Division Director Nurnabi.
According to BTRC sources, earlier only TDM-based call technology was introduced. Which was used by IGW and ICX licensees. With the advent of 4G, mobile operators can now send calls to their networks with IP instead of TDM. That’s why the change is so that IGW or ICX licensees can handle the matter.
At the same time, due to the development of global technology, the use of parts by IGW or ICX operators has changed. TDM equipment which was usually in use is now discontinued. Currently, IP-based equipment is being made. As a result, international gateway operators are suffering from a shortage of parts. Eventually, the government has had to take this decision to adapt to the times.
The changed guidelines also include changes in signaling or protocol, connectivity and space coding.
