‘Korean EPZ’ Hi-Tech Park, the first-ever private export processing zone of Bangladesh started its journey at Anwara Upazila in Chattagram district. Junaid Ahmed Palak, Minister of State for Information and Communication Technology, inaugurated the high-tech park on Wednesday, April 21 which has been built on an area of about 100 acres.
Speaking as the chief guest on the occasion he stated that ensuring food security relying on local human resources even in pandemic situations, Bangladesh has been ranked among the two ASEAN countries in the positive market growth in the last year. Using digital technology, we have been able to ensure the supply of agricultural products by facilitating work from home. Digital facilities have played a key role in achieving 5.2 index growth in GDP.
South Korean Ambassador to Bangladesh Lee Jang-gun, Spark Lab Co-Founder Jimmy Kim, Young-one Corporation and Chairman and CEO of Korean EPZ Mr. Kihak Sung spoke on the occasion under the direction of Mr. Shahjahan, Managing Director of Korean EPZ.
He said Bangladesh ranks sixth in terms of foreign direct investment as more than two hundred Korean companies have now invested in the country due to infrastructure and investment facilities.
“I believe that investing in KEPZ will make a significant contribution to the economy, including digital growth, employment and entrepreneurship,” Palak said.
He also commented that KEPZ Made in Bangladesh will play a special role in the export of products by utilizing the infrastructural facilities of the Hi-Tech Park.
