Starlink’s much-anticipated satellite cellular service ‘Direct to Cell’ will be launched next year. Initially through this service customers will be able to send SMS from their phones. This information was found on Starlink’s new promotional site. News Engadget.
According to the news, continuous texting, calling and browsing facilities will be available whether on land, heart or sea area. The service will also connect IoT devices based on the LTE standard.
Starlink has partnered with T-Mobile for this project. This announcement was originally made last August. According to the agreement, Starlink’s second generation satellite will use part of T-Mobile’s 5G spectrum. Starlink, on the other hand, will allow T-Mobile to offer cellphone services to customers using its satellite network.
