Google and Apple are under the eyes of the central government of India. These two companies have been accused of illegal trading. Ravneet Kaur, head of the central organization Competition Commission of India or CCI, has claimed this on Tuesday.
The two tech giants are accused of monopolizing news content. The investigation was started after receiving such complaints from various news publishers. Ravneet said that Google’s role in the world of smart televisions is also being explored.
In addition to this, the head of CCI claimed in the press conference on that day that an investigation has also been started against Apple. The iPhone maker has been accused of anti-competitive practices through the App Store. At the moment, the matter is said to be under the control of DG, Investigation Wing of CCL.
It is to be noted that Google was under investigation by CCL before. There were service complaints about Playstore and Android system. The technology giant had to pay a penalty of Rs. 1,337 crore. However, the penalty increased further along with interest.
