Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud said that taka 500 crore, that used to go from Bangladesh is being saved as for advertisement has been stopped due to the introduction of clean feed (advertisement free) of foreign channels.
He informed so, in response to a question from journalists after a meeting with the representatives of the Cable Operators Association of Bangladesh (COAB) at the meeting room of the Ministry of Information on Tuesday (October 3). The minister also said that some of the same internet service providers are still advertising Bangladeshi products on foreign channels through the net, which should be stopped.
When asked how much progress has been made after the introduction of cleanfeed, what will be done in the future, the information minister said that at least 500 crore taka would have gone abroad every year due to lack of cleanfeed. Now, those who own Television can tell what benefit has come from the launch of Cleanfeed. But some are still on social media.
‘But our television industry has benefited from the stoppage of Bangladeshi product display or advertisement through foreign TV. In other words, the advertisement worth 500 crore taka used to dispense from our country has stopped, which is good for the country’s economy and media industry. Cleanfeed benefits not only the television industry, but the entire media industry.’ He added.
The joint general secretary of Awami League said that some ISP companies who are internet service providers are not running clean feed. They are promoting native ads on foreign channels to consumers like them via internet. It is being worked on. Today it is also a matter of discussion and it also needs to be stopped.
Recently, a public university has announced that no married students will be allowed to stay in the hostel and girls will sit on the ground floor of BRTC buses and boys will sit on the top. I wonder how a university can take such a decision. In my view, the decision that female students cannot live in the hall if they get married is completely unreasonable. How to make such a decision? It can’t be.
He said, in today’s era, female students will sit on the first floor and male students will sit on the second floor – it was not known. This is also unreal, this is Bangladesh, not Saudi Arabia. Now girls in Saudi Arabia are driving. I don’t understand how such a decision is made, from whose head it comes and how the authorities take it. However, I will bring the matter to the attention of the Education Minister.
