If startups in North Bengal can succeed, this region can become the Silicon Valley of Bangladesh in the future. At the conclusion of the North Bengal Startup Summit, this expectation came up in the speeches of the guests. Startup Rajshahi, an organization of young digital entrepreneurs of Rajshahi Division, organized the conclusion of the two-day long North Bengal Startup Summit on Friday, September 29. This event was held for the first time in North Bengal to develop the startup culture along with recognizing the work of entrepreneurs, introducing them to investors.
Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce President Masudur Rahman Rinku was the chief guest at the closing event. The iDEA Project Director (in charge) Dr. Md. Mizanur Rahman was present at the event.
Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce President Masudur Rahman Rinku, the chief guest of the event, said that if these startups can be made successful, the dream of building a smart Bangladesh in 2041 will be fulfilled. These startups will lead the economy of the region as well as the country.
The iDEA Project Director said that the country’s biggest startups will emerge from this region in the future. He said that Bangladesh market is very big. And in this educational city there are many energetic and talented young people. He also said that everyone has many opportunities to work in the IT sector.
Syed Abdullah Shawon, the advisor of Startup Rajshahi and the main sponsor of this event also spoke at the event. Md. Nazim Uddin, Human Resources Consultant of iDEA Project, Event Director of North Bengal Startup Summit and General Secretary of Startup Rajshahi Mahir Asif and many others were also present.
On the concluding day, Fleet Bangladesh, Real Star Properties, MD Infotech, Viva Soft and Real Star Society were awarded for their work in creating employment and youth employability in Rajshahi. Note that co-hosting partners among startups were rewarded based on engagement with visitors at the expo. About 25 startups based or operating in North Bengal participated in the expo and showcased all the exciting technologies including VR games, drone and robot showcases, electric race cars to the visitors. More than 2000 visitors participated in the event including 4 special sessions, 7 expert sessions, startup idea competition for young people and startup expo.
Earlier, on the theme of decentralizing the startup ecosystem and branding Rajshahi as the country’s first smart city, Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner Dr. Dewan Muhammad Humayun Kabir inaugurated the program at Sheikh Kamal IT Training and Incubation Center under Bangabandhu High Tech Park in Rajshahi on Thursday, September 28.
North Bengal Startup Summit 2023 was organized by Startup Rajshahi on 28-29 September. This year’s event was held at the Sheikh Kamal IT Training and Incubation Center under the Bangabandhu High Tech Park in Rajshahi in collaboration with the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Academy Establishment Project (iDEA) under the Bangladesh Computer Council under the Department of Information and Communication Technology. Apart from iDEA Project, Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority and Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce and Industries were also involved in organizing the summit.
