The National Museum of Science and Technology situated at Agargaon is full of numerous birds and various biodiversity. Surrounded by greenery, the National Science and Technology Museum has now become a unique aesthetic place in the heart of the capital. A lot of birds, a few cats and a dog have become the constant companions of the museum’s officials and staff. They are regularly fed. Mohammad Munir Chowdhury, director general of the museum, supervised the matter.
On Thursday, September 21, a cat fell deep into a pipe hole in the roof of the museum building. The cat’s call came to the notice of the authorities for about three days. But efforts to rescue the cat from the bottom of a 50-foot-deep pipe yielded no results.
The pipe was then broken on the orders of the Director General. But it turned out that the cat was trapped in a sewage pipe pit, which could not be pulled out. The museum area was flooded by heavy rains throughout the evening and overnight. Either way, the director general ordered to rescue the cat alive. Then the entire wall of the administrative building began to be demolished. The cat was rescued in a pathetic state after an eight-hour continuous operation after digging through the huge wall.
After the rescue, tears of joy flowed among the museum’s officials and staff. Many people got emotional. There have been some rare incidents in different parts of the world before, where these helpless animals are rescued with the help of the fire service. The example of duty and humanity has been set in rescuing the cat, who is in love with animals and birds. In recognition of this, the Director General handed over special thanks and testimonials and financial incentives to all the members of the rescue team at the meeting room of the Science Museum on Wednesday.
In this regard, Director General of the Science Museum Mohammad Munir Chowdhury said, “It is not only our goal to perform our official duties, but it is our moral duty as human beings to protect and stand by any animal in this world created by the Great Creator God.”
