Amazon will invest $4 billion in artificial intelligence (AI) technology startup Anthropic. The e-commerce giant has taken this step to stay ahead of the competition with companies like Microsoft, Meta, Google and Nvidia. Reports TechCrunch.
Amazon says it will invest $1.25 billion for some of Anthropic’s shares, which could later be increased to $4 billion. Anthropic runs AI-based chatbots like Google’s Bird and Microsoft-backed OpenAI.
According to the report, Anthropic also considers Google as an investor. The company plans to earn $5 billion over the next two years. The company has already created its own chatbot called Claude. There are also two versions.
According to the agreement between Anthropic and Amazon, Anthropic will use Amazon’s Cloud Service (AWS) as the primary cloud service. AWS’s Trainium and Inferencia chips will be used to build, train and expand the foundation of future chatbot models.
