To increase the image of Bangladesh, the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce & Industries-FBCCI and Bangladesh-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industries (BMCCI) want to work together to increase business and investment in Malaysia, one of the labor markets of Bangladesh, and to reduce the bilateral trade gap with skilled manpower from various sectors including engineers and ICT experts.
The FBCCI President Mahbubul Alam shared his views in a courtesy call with Bangladesh-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industries (BMCCI) on Tuesday (September 19, 2023).
FBCCI President Mahbubul Alam emphasized creating skilled manpower keeping in mind the fourth industrial revolution and sectoral needs. He assured to work jointly with the Bangladesh-Malaysia Chamber to increase employment opportunities for skilled workers of Bangladesh abroad.
He also urged BMCCI to be more proactive in increasing Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) from Malaysia to Bangladesh.
In a courtesy call, BMCCI’s President Syed Almas Kabir said, Bangladesh’s main problem in exporting manpower is ‘image crisis’. We have promoted our cheap labor all over the world. It should be highlighted to others that Bangladesh also has skilled manpower in various sectors including skilled doctors, engineers, and ICT experts. At this time, he called for FBCCI’s cooperation in exporting skilled manpower to potential countries including Malaysia.
The issue of trade deficit between Bangladesh and Malaysia also came up in the discussion. FBCCI and BMCCI believe that the South Asian country’s huge deficit can be significantly reduced through FTAs, PTAs and other trade agreements. Both sides expressed their determination to work together in this regard.
FBCCI Director Hafez Harun, Mohammad Nizam Uddin, BMCCI Senior Vice President Sabbir Ahmed Khan, Vice President Jamilur Rahman, BMCCI Secretary General Md. Motahar Hossain Khan, Director Md. Mamunur Rahman and others were also present at that time.
