The 56th Asia Pacific Network Information Center (APNIC) conference is underway in Kyoto, Japan. On the occasion of the conference, a workshop and partner meet was held on September 11 with internet and networking experts. After that, the conference started from September 12. Today is the final day, Thursday (September 14) where the member meet is being held. APNIC is also celebrating its 30th anniversary at this year’s conference with special events and activities.
According to sources, Shayla Sharmin of Bangladesh Network Operators Group-bdNOG was present as co-chair in the policy-making meeting chaired by Bertrand Carrier in the morning at Annex Hall-1. In the meeting, there was a positive discussion about technical cooperation to Bangladesh in the matter of routing Internet Protocol Version (IPv) 4 to 6 in the improvement of Internet services.
Executive members Anlei Hu, Rupender Singh, Suman Ahmed Sabir, Cam Young and Paul Wilson are meeting with the members in addition to Secretary Vincent and Treasurer Yoshinobu Matsuzaki, chaired by APNIC President Kenny Hung. The meeting discussed how to implement Prop 150 and 151 and update of SN delegation identity.
According to sources, four new policies have been proposed in the eight-day conference. One of these updated a previously discussed policy. The meeting discussed whether four previous versions of Prop. 148 should implement the anti-leasing provisions.
ISPAB President Imdadul Haque, who led the Bangladesh delegation in the conference, said that cyber security drills and IPv4 have received special importance in the conference.
He said that Sumon Ahmed Sabir, a member of the Executive Committee of APNIC, presented details about APNIC Academy. In addition to providing 12 technical trainings from 10 NOGs, he highlighted the creation of 6 new virtual labs, training 32 volunteer communities and skill development training for 9 communities.
