Mohammad Munir Chowdhury, Director General of National Museum of Science and Technology, has called upon the young generation to make the world a welfare, peaceful and diverse place for people by being energized by science and being strong in moral strength.
He made this call in a seminar organized on Monday (11 September 2023) and Sunday (10 September 2023) with 80 young students from Raujan and Fatikchhari upazilas of Chattoogram who came to visit the science museum.
80 high school and diploma level students from Maijbhandari Polytechnic Institute and Raujan Polytechnic Institute were given a free visit to the Science Museum. Enthusiastic youngsters witnessed the various discoveries and historical evolution of science in the science museum with great enthusiasm. They observed the diversity of creation in the universe and oceans through 4D movies. Director General Mohammad Munir Chowdhury called on the youth to develop themselves as skilled human resources through regular knowledge and science practice in two separate sessions titled “No Mobile Addiction: Morality and Science Practice” organized for them.
He said, “There is no success in science practice by just reading books, taking a load of books or memorizing, it will only give a certificate and a desired job, but it will not be possible to prevent the curse of environmental pollution, the celebration of natural resource destruction or unjust lawlessness in this world. Today, Malaysia and Singapore have become major economic powers just by the power of technology. Young people should research space, in the creation of space, the great creator Allah Ta’ala has placed a great source of knowledge and science. To prevent the environmental pollution that is plaguing the world today, we need to develop such technology, so that it is sustainable and beneficial.”
He called upon the youth to change their lifestyle and said, “It is not possible to acquire knowledge by being constantly immersed in mobile phones. Along with studies, outdoor activities, physical exercise, eating homemade food, avoiding fast food and junk food, bonding with nature and respecting and more particularly respecting parents and teachers should be made essential part of life. Being a doctor, engineer, scientist or BCS officer with a degree or certificate will not make life worthwhile. He should have strict integrity and ethics. The purpose of human life is to be able to use this transitory life for human welfare through the invention of science and to gain the satisfaction of the great creator.”
After the visit to the museum, these young students were given souvenirs by the science museum.
