A digital entertainment platform Banga BD has received an investment of Tk. 5 crore from the state venture capital company Startup Bangladesh Limited. Startup Bangladesh authorities said that this investment has been made in joint partnership with North Base Media, a company that invests in digital media around the world.
A Memorandum of Understanding was recently signed between the two organizations at ICT Tower to further expand and restructure the country’s online entertainment and content industry. Sami Ahmed, Managing Director of Startup Bangladesh, Navidul Haque, Co-Founder of Banga BD signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations.
The Minister of State for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Startup Bangladesh and Senior Secretary of ICT Division Md. Shamsul Arefin, Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer of Banga BD Fayaz Taher, Chief Content Officer Mushfiqur Rahman, Chief Business Development Officer Mamun Atiq were present on the occasion. .
Commenting on the investment, State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak said, “This agreement with Banga BD proves how committed Startup Bangladesh is to supporting domestic startups to meet the diverse needs of the people of Bangladesh. Banga BD’s success story reflects the dream of Smart Bangladesh and we are delighted to be a part of their role in enhancing this impact”.
Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division Secretary Md. Shamsul Arefin said, “I believe that the new collaboration we are embarking on with Banga BD will give a new shape to the digital entertainment landscape of Bangladesh. This strategic investment will further strengthen our commitment to support domestic startups and enhance their technological excellence and take us one step further towards the dream of Smart Bangladesh”.
Banga BD through this investment hopes to develop their technical infrastructure as well as expand their content library and above all make their digital entertainment experience more enjoyable for the audience.
