On the occasion of the 93rd birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s wife Bangmata Begum Fazilatun Nesa Mujib, Bangabandhu’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given cash assistance to three thousand women of the country through mobile banking.
At the same time, to commemorate the anniversary, the Prime Minister handed over a prize to microbiologist Dr. Senjuti Saha. She received this recognition for her research that revealed the first genome sequence of Covid. Apart from Dr. Sejuti, the award was given to advocate Sahara Khatun (posthumously) in politics, Nasima Zaman Bobby and Anima Mukti Gomez in education, culture and sports.
The Prime Minister presented the medal as the Chief Guest at a function organized by the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital on Tuesday morning.
State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Fazilatun Nessa Indira presided over the ceremony and the secretary of the ministry Najma Mubarek delivered a welcome speech.
Professor of Women and Gender Studies Department of Dhaka University. Tanya Haque presented keynotes based on the life and work of Bangmata and the discussion was attended by Begum Chemon Ara Taib, Chairman of the National Women’s Organization.
Sabina Khatun, captain of the national women’s football team, spoke on behalf of the awardees.
Before this, an audio-visual documentary on the life and work of Bangamata Begum Fazilatun Nesha Mujib was screened.
