China’s digital technology company KFL Group of China has expressed interest in investing 100 crore taka for a router manufacturing plant in Bangladesh. Jha Helin, the President of the company, expressed this interest while called on the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, Mustafa Jabbar, in his office at the Bangladesh Secretariat in Dhaka on Sunday. General Manager of Hong Kong KFL Li Hui, local partner representative, MD of Next J Limited Bangladesh Md. Nazmul Alam were present.
During the meeting, the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications assured the delegation to provide necessary assistance to the delegation in this regard.
The minister said that as a result of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s technology-friendly policy, Bangladesh is a very profitable country for investment. He said that it is essential to introduce IPv6 instead of Internet Protocol Version (IPV)-4 for digital security. The government is determined to take appropriate measures in this regard. BTRC and related parties are working in this regard.
Mustafa Jabbar said, ‘IPv-6 router deployment’ is a very effective technology for digital security needs. Referring to high-speed broadband internet as the highway to establish Digital Bangladesh and Smart Bangladesh, he also said, the implementation of the Digital Bangladesh program has initiated a revolutionary changes in the use of the Internet in the country. Currently 5000 Gbps internet is being used in the country and 13 crore people are using internet. In 2008 only 7.5 Gbps internet was used and the number of users was only 8 lakh. The Minister emphasized the need to develop skilled human resources to update IPv6 for digital security needs. Bangladesh will not lag behind in adopting the latest version of information technology. The government will do everything necessary to keep pace with the world. Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has already formed a study group to go into the new IPV addressing system. The minister emphasized the need for quality and cost effective routers.
