There is no data privacy and data security act in the country although Data Governance is very important. The government has to make sure who will use the data, how to use it and how much data will be used in the data policy. As a result, it is necessary to make a data privacy and protection act in the country.
This is what the speakers speaking at a seminar on ‘Data Privacy and Protection – Personal, Organizational and Social Security’ organized by the Computer Engineering Department of the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) at the Council Hall of the IEB in the capital’s Ramna on Sunday (July 30).
In the seminar, Honorary General Secretary of IEB Engineer S.M. Manzurul Haque Manzur delivered the welcome address. In the welcome speech, S.M. Manjurul Haque Manju said that personal data is very important and a national resource. Everyone should be aware and vigilant in protecting this resource I believe that computer engineers will play a more responsible role to protect data in building a Smart Bangladesh
At this time, the speakers at the seminar said that data privacy act is being practiced and implemented in developed countries. If there was a data privacy and security law, the roles and responsibilities of data management would have been clearly specified. Individuals should be aware of sharing information socially. Not all information should be shared socially. Prevention is better than cure in data privacy.
IEB Vice President Engineer Md. Shahadat Hossain Shiblu, Engineer Md Nuruzzaman, Engineer Khandaker Manjur Morshed and Engineer Khairul Bashar spoke as special guests at the seminar.
