The Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) has identified mosquito habitats in swimming pools and roof gardens of various multi-storey buildings in the city by flying drones to find mosquito habitats. On Sunday (July 9) 7 building owners were fined 87 thousand taka by raiding the city’s Nasirabad Housing Society. The rest have been warned by awareness leaflets.
At the end of the operation CSIC mayor Md. Rezaul Karim Chowdhury said that by observing the roofs of the multi-storied buildings with drones, water has accumulated on the roofs of almost all the buildings. So everyone has been called and warned. Later, if the accumulated water is not removed, strict legal action will be taken along with fine. In addition to the campaign, 435 vulnerable areas have been identified and larveacides are being sprayed.
During the campaign, Mayor’s Private Secretary and Chief Clean Officer Muhammad Abul Hashem said, we are emphasizing on creating public awareness along with the 100-day crush program to reduce mosquito infection. 8 teams of Urban Volunteers and Red Crescent volunteers have been formed to distribute leaflets with microphones at 8 important points of the city urging the people to remove the accumulated water from their houses.
The CCC Chief Executive Officer Sheikh Muhammad Touhidul Islam Councilor Md. Morshed Alam and Jasmine Parveen Jessie were present at that time.
