Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), the country’s main capital market, has experienced disruptions in transactions while adding the ‘OMS (Order Management System)’ service module to the software. Because of this, on Wednesday (July 5) and Tuesday (July 4) two days in a row, there was a problem in several broker houses to place buy-sell orders. Due to a technical error, the order to buy the shares was not visible at that time. In addition, the index cell was showing white, share buy and sell orders were not showing, the results of any share buy and sell orders were getting delayed and the final result was not showing even if the trade was settled.
The DSE authorities have already acknowledged the matter and expressed regret. And on Thursday (July 6) the problem has been resolved before the transaction, said the Chairman of DSE Hafiz Md. Hasan Babu.
A message sent to brokerage houses from DSE’s IT department on Wednesday said, “We regret the recent problems faced in the DSE-FlexTP system. Our team is working diligently to improve user and investor experience by introducing new features and addressing reported bugs (issues). A patch was installed two days ago to fix these issues. Some users experienced problems with order cancellations, changes and order blotter updates after installing the patch. We have identified the issues and informed DSE and FlexTrade team to resolve them. Our efforts to resolve the issue are ongoing. We fixed some issues on Tuesday as well but today there is still a persistent problem with the order blotter. Specifically related to order performance. Our software vendor, FlexTrade is actively working on solving this particular problem. We assure you that we are giving utmost importance to resolve this issue. Once again, we sincerely apologize for the temporary inconvenience.
On the other hand, the real cause of the two errors will be investigated by the capital market regulatory body Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC). Regarding the issue, BSEC spokesperson and executive director Mohammad Rezaul Karim said that technical errors in DSE transactions have come to BSEC’s attention, DSE too has informed BSEC. This matter will be looked into. Investigation will be done if necessary.
