Urging the use of technology in cultural practices, the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, “Thinking of the new generation is changing with technology. Culture should be practiced in harmony with it. We need to integrate technology with our culture to build a modern and knowledge-based nation generation after generation.”
The head of government made such an insistence while laying the foundation stone of six projects of the Ministry of Culture and inaugurating the copyright building on Tuesday (July 4). In the event, the Prime Minister directed to find and train talent from the grassroots in cultural practice. She also called for their inclusion at the national level.
In the morning, Bangabandhu’s daughter joined the ceremony organized at Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Auditorium of the National Museum from the official residence Ganobhaban.
Stating that the government is working to incorporate technology to further improve the culture, she said, “Thoughts and beliefs of our children are always changing with the advent of new technologies. We have to develop our culture according to their way of thinking, so that they never forget the culture of Bangladesh.”
Sheikh Hasina said, ‘We have already done everything necessary to develop and excel the culture of Bangladesh and will continue to do it in the future. Because in the age of technology, the perspective of our children is changing. So we have to develop our culture in harmony with their thoughts’.
The Prime Minister said that since 2009, her government has been working to create an educated nation with technical knowledge by protecting and preserving the history and culture of the Bengali nation, the spirit of the liberation war, literature and research work.
State Minister for Culture KM Khalid presided over the event and Culture Secretary Khalil Ahmed delivered the welcome speech. Among others, Prime Minister’s Chief Secretary Tofazzal Hossain Mia, Cultural Affairs Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League Asim Kumar Ukil were present at the event.
The prime minister laid the foundation stone of the six development projects in the event, namely – new multi-storied building for Public Library Directorate, Rose Garden in old Dhaka city, Kabi Nazrul Institute building in Dhaka, President Md. Abdul Hamid Shilpakala Academy at Mithamain in Kishoreganj and Regional Cultural Centre, Muktagachha Cultural Center in Mymensingh and Children’s Library at the National Museum.
She also inaugurated the newly constructed 12-storey copyright building.
