The Jatiyo Sangsad (National Parliament) usually passes the budget on June 29 or 30 every year. This time due to the holiday of Eid al-Adha, it was passed a little early. On Monday (June 26), Parliament approved a budget of Tk. 2,368 crore 39 lakh as the operational expenditure of the Information and Communication Technology Division-ICTD for the financial year ending on June 30, 2024.
The 23rd session of the 11th National Parliament passed the proposed budget for the fiscal year 2023-202 through parliamentary processes like Question Answer sessions, voting on the demand for sanction of expenditure and so on.
Earlier, the ICT state minister proposed to the president to sanction more than 2 thousand 368 crore 39 lakh taka as the necessary maintenance and development expenses. After that, the Speaker Shireen Sharmin Chowdhury presented the proposal to the Parliament.
Earlier, the money bill was passed in the Parliament on Sunday. This budget will be effective from July 1. Prior to this, the specification will be gazetted subject to the assent of the President.
