After a gap of three years, the BPO Summit is going to be started from Rajshahi University, Rajshahi College and Rajshahi Polytechnic Institute on May 23. However, State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak will inaugurate this conference in Natore on May 24. This conference will be held in all seven Divisions till July 20 focusing the goal ‘BPO beyond border’. It will end with the Dhaka conference at Hotel Intercontinental. Minister of Education Dr. Deipu Moni will be present in that meeting.
The conference will have Career Council, Seminar and Job fair. Through this fair, graduates will work in the world by ensuring employment in their own place instead of going to Dhaka.
The BACCO General Secretary Tauhid Hossain conveyed this information at a press conference at a restaurant in Dhaka on Sunday. It was informed in the press conference that local ministers and members of parliament will inaugurate the Divisional Conferences.
Executive Officer of Business Promotion Council (BPC) Mir Faisal Khan, Secretary General of Bangladesh Computer Samity Md. Kamruzzaman Bhuiya, BPO Senior Vice President Md. Abul Khair, Vice-president Tanveer Ibrahim, Joint general secretary Md. Tanjirul Bashar, Finance Secretary Director Aminul Haque, Kawsar Ahmed, Abu Daud Khan and Dr. Tanjiba Rahman were present at the Press conference.
It was informed that 1000 youths will be employed through this conference. In 2020, 70 percent of the business was cut, but now the sector has overcome this crisis. As a result, the BPO industry will generate $ 1 billion in revenue by 2025, moving forward with new initiatives. New job resources will be created for 1 lakh people.
In response to the questions of the journalists, Touhid Hossain said that 35 percent of the work of the BPO sector is for the foreign market. And 65 percent is for the domestic market. 7 lakh youth have been trained in the BPO sector to create qualified workers for this market. Their salary starts at 11,000 taka, but after qualifying, 30 percent switch jobs. This is due to lack of career satisfaction.
At the end of the event, a memorandum of understanding was signed with the organizations of the ICT family.
