Bahar Uddin Raihan, a first class graduate from History Department of Chittagong University, a specially able man has been appointed to Bangladesh Commuter Council’s EDGE Project. The ICT State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak handed over the appointment letter to him for the post a ‘Training Coordinator’ in the conference room at Agargaon ICT Tower on Monday. Bahar lost both his hands in his childhood.
The state minister said that, despite his disability, Bahar’s skills such as driving a motorcycle and roller skates apart from studies, made me energetic and rejuvenated.
He said, Bahar Uddin Raihan is the biggest example of a smart citizen of Smart Bangladesh. Smart citizens who will be enterprising, intelligent and brave and fighting. They will not be weakened by any obstacle or problem. In the words of Bangabandhu – ‘No one can keep us in check’ – our Bahar Uddin Raihan is a shining example of becoming a smart citizen moving forward with that indomitable power.
BCC Executive Director Ranjit Kumar, Enhancing Digital Government Economy (EDGE) Project Director Dr. Muhammad Mehdi Hasan, Additional Secretary of ICT Division Mohammad Naveed Shafiullah, EDGE Project National Consultant Engineer Abdul Bari, Component Team Leader Dr. Mahfuzur Islam Shamim and others were present.
Speaking about his childhood, Baharuddin Raihan said that after the accident in 2004, although he was liked by everyone, he was a victim of some bullying. Because the society considered him a burden. But he did not want to rely on anyone with his talent and hard work. Rather, when he rode his bicycle to school, an able-bodied person would sit behind him.
It was informed in the event that working 9-5 in the morning 6 days a week will get a salary of 25 thousand taka. As per rules, he will get other benefits and pay increment.
It may be noted that, on October 30, 2004, Bahar Uddin Raihan got burns on his hands and feet while trying to save a sparrow that had entered an electrical transformer. Fifth class student Bahar Uddin Raihan became physically disabled. Meanwhile Raihan opened a computer training center at home. His education and family were supported by the income from there. Besides her, mother Khaleda Begum used to do income-generating work at home. The indomitable Raihan’s performance in every public examination by holding a pen in his mouth and taking the test with the help of his elbow is unbelievable. Not only that, He is involved in social activities including sports. Raihan completed his Master’s degree in first class from the Department History of the University of Chittagong. After that, he worked as the CEO of the country’s first app-based online restaurant ‘Khabar Lagbe’.
