A series of specialized workshops are underway on the occasion of SANOG39 (South Asian Network Operators Group) and the bdNOG16 conference (Bangladesh Chapter). The workshop started on Wednesday (10 May 2023) in the morning at Hotel Intercontinental in three groups. A total of 121 trainees from Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka and India participated in it. There are also a total of 11 network engineers on fellowship including 4 from Bangladesh.
55 registered students got hands-on technical engineering of implementation of Border BGP Internet Protocol and latest version of Internet Protocol (IP) IPv6 in the boardroom of the training venue. They were taught the practical problem solving of Network Communication Control Protocol (TCP) routing and domain routing support systems in autonomous systems by Terri Switzer, Training Delivery Manager, South Asia and Pacific Region of APNIC, Content Developer Md. Abdullah Al Nasser and Home Network Engineer Zobair Khan.
At Madhumati Hall, a training session on network security was conducted by APNIC’s Technical Trainer and Senior Network Analyst Warren Finch, ASM Shamim Reza and System Service Engineer Suman Saha. 40 people are taking training in the workshop.
At the same time 31 people are undergoing training in the ongoing technical workshop on Network Automation at Turagh Hall. Instructors include Anurag Bhatia, Network Analyst, Hurricane Electric, Rupesh Basnet, Co-Founder, OM Networkers, and Sig Co-Chair, Shayla Sharmin.
Regarding the workshop, ISPAB President Imdadul Haque said that every year many people come to the workplace from the universities and face various practical problems. Also we are hosting SANOG Conferences to equip them with up-to-date engineering knowledge as per the need of the hour. Hopefully, this initiative will enable young engineers to contribute to the global arena by developing their skills. We are also active in increasing the participation of women in this sector. This time over 10 percent of the trainees are women engineers. Almost doubled from last time. Similarly, 14 percent of the total participants came from various government institutions besides those employed in the private sector. Hopefully, through public-private joint capacity building, the network system of Smart Bangladesh will also be more sustainable, participatory and secure through these engineers.
The training workshop will continue till May 13. This year’s SANOG39 and bdNOG16 conference ended with the certificate distribution ceremony in the evening.
