26 lakh 34 thousand 34 customers have increased in mobile banking within a month. However, despite the increase in customers, transactions decreased by 3.37 percent.
At the end of February, registered accounts of Mobile Financial Services (MFS) stood at 19 crore 67 lakh 59 thousand 171. In December it was 19 crore 10 lakh 63 thousand 573.
According to the updated statistics released by the Bangladesh Bank, transactions of Tk. 97 thousand 307 crore were made through MFS in February, which is 23.88 percent more than the same period last year. 78 thousand 545 crores were traded in February 2022.
According to the data received, the transaction in February has decreased by 3.37 percent compared to January this year. MFS traded at Tk. 1 lakh 593 crore in January, second highest in 9 months. 1 lakh 7 thousand 460 crore was traded in April 2022 9 months ago.
According to the data of Bangladesh Bank, last December MFS was traded at 96 thousand 132 crores. Transactions in November, October and September were 92 thousand 125 crores, 93 thousand 13 crores and 87 thousand 635 crores respectively.
Bangladesh Bank allowed mobile banking operations in 2010. On March 31, 2011; the journey of this service started in the country through the private sector Dutch-Bangla Bank’s mobile banking service. After this, bKash launched mobile banking services as a subsidiary of BRAC Bank. Currently, bKash holds the majority of the mobile banking market in the country.
In addition, 13 institutions in the country are currently providing this financial service including Rocket, M-Cash, Upay, Nagad. Among them is Nagad’s positions is after bKash. Recently, this institution has received the final license to conduct non-banking activities as a financial institution.
As a result, the quality of its services will increase much more than before, the concerned said. It is said that more new services including micro loan, buy now pay letter will come to Nagad Finance PLC.
