Rajiv Agarwal, head of public policy at Facebook’s parent company in India, and Abhijit Bose, India head of WhatsApp, have resigned. The country’s private electronics media NDTV reported that these two officials left their jobs two weeks after the resignation of Ajit Mohan, head of Meta in India.
In this regard, the statement given by Meta said that Rajeev Agarwal has decided to resign due to the creation of new job opportunities. The statement wished him well for his future endeavors. The technology firm also announced WhatsApp’s India-based director of public policy, Shivnath Thakral, as director of public policy for Meta in India.
Meanwhile, WhatsApp India head Abhijit Bose announced his resignation in a LinkedIn post, saying he was “really excited” about his next job. ‘After a temporary break I will join the technology world again’ – added Abhijit.
In a statement, WhatsApp chief Will Cathcart thanked Abhijit Bose for his ‘extraordinary contribution’ as India’s first WhatsApp chief. Cathcart wrote, ‘Through his work our staff has been able to offer new services. Millions of people and businesses have benefited from it. WhatsApp has a lot more in store for India. We are delighted to help drive India’s digital transformation.’
In a recent blog post, Facebook’s parent company Meta announced major layoffs. 11,000 workers of the company have been laid off. This is the biggest layoff in the history of the social media.
