A young man named Akash Sardar (22) was allegedly stabbed to death in Jashore Sadar over a dispute over commenting on a post on digital social media TikTok. The incident took place in Shankarpur Bat Tala area of district headquarters on Tuesday night. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Jashore Kotwali Police Station Shafikul Alam Chowdhury informed the matter.
Akash is the son of Tota Sardar of Shankarpur Bat Tala. The police and relatives of the deceased said that Akash used to mingle with a few people including Sabbir and Tanveer from the same area. Recently, they got into an argument over commenting on a TikTok post. Later, on Tuesday afternoon, Sabbir called Akash on his mobile phone. At around 1 am Akash was taken to Bat Tala slum area and 10 to 12 people including Sabbir, Tanveer, Anik, Chhota Akash, Sohan stabbed him and escaped. Later, when the locals rescued him with stab wounds and took him to the hospital, the doctor declared Akash dead.
Jashore General Hospital emergency department doctor Shafiqur Rahman said, ‘Akash died before being brought to the hospital. He had a sharp weapon injury on the left side of his neck. He is believed to have died of profuse bleeding.’
On the other hand, the officer in charge of Kotwali police station said, ‘Akash was killed by his friends. He has three cases about dealing with arms and drugs against him. An operation is underway to arrest those involved in this killing.
