Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, Mustafa Jabbar, has called to make Sheikh Russell Day meaningful by developing children and teenagers as human resources with digital skills. The minister made this call while speaking as the chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony among the winners of the discussion meeting and quiz competition organized by the Department of Posts and Telecommunications on the occasion of Sheikh Russell Day 2023 at the GPO Auditorium in Dhaka on Wednesday.
The minister said, we have to use the demographic dividend till 2050. For this purpose, digital transformation of education should be given utmost importance. Under the initiative of the Department of Posts and Telecommunications, the campaign for digital transformation of education has started in 650 primary schools for children from underprivileged areas and 28 neighborhood centers in hilly areas with funding from BTRC’s SOF fund and the process of digitizing another 1000 schools is underway. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s government is determined to make the new generation suitable for the fourth and fifth industrial revolutions.
Mostafa Jabbar expressed the hope that Sheikh Russell will spread from the village to the city and every locality of Bangladesh as a symbol of building a bright life for neglected, backward, deprived children and teenagers, saying that Sheikh Russell is a name of love, a symbol of human existence. If Russell had lived, he would have been a great, visionary and ideal leader, of whom the country and the nation could be proud. If Bangabandhu’s beloved, innocent, lively Sheikh Russell had lived, he would have been a shadow companion in the progress of development today and would have been a companion of Sheikh Hasina’s thoughts about the loss of relatives and the people of the country.
Chairman of BTRC Shyam Sundar Sikdar, Chairman of Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited Dr. Shahjahan Mahmud and Director General of Postal Department Tarun Kanti Sikder spoke.
In the event, the Secretary of Telecommunications said, Sheikh Russell is fearless, fearless and fearless. Baby Russell spent most of his life without his father. Father Bangabandhu spent most of his life in prison for political reasons. So Sheikh Russell did not get close to his father for a long time.
Dr. Shahjahan Mahmud said, Sheikh Russell is only the name of an emotion and feeling today. An image of a magical face. A blood rose bud spilled before it blooms. Director General of Posts said, Bangabandhu and his family lost their lives in the anti-independence and international conspiracy on August 15, 1975. Bangabandhu’s infant son Sheikh Russell was not spared from the brutality of the killers. Russell’s heart-rending screams and cries were of no value to the killers.
Earlier, ministers, secretaries and staff officers of the Department of Posts and Telecommunications laid wreaths at the Sheikh Russell memorial at the GPO.
Later, the minister distributed books and certificates to each of the winners of the quiz competition with a set of his writings.
