The CEO and co-founder of popular video app Tik Tok maker ByteDance has announced his resignation from the top position of the company. He told the company’s staff that he would take on new responsibilities by the end of the year.
In a letter to Bytedance staff, CEO Zhang Yiming said another co-founder, Rubo Liang, would replace him.
The popularity of Tik Tok, one of the leading technology companies in the world brings ByteDance to Qatar. However, at the same time, the company is under the surveillance of the government in different countries.
Founded almost a decade ago, the company has never seen such a big change, the BBC reports.
“The truth is, I don’t have the qualities that make an ideal manager. I am more interested in organizational and market policy analysis. We want to use these theories to further reduce the workload of human management. ” – Zhang wrote in a message on the organization’s website.
He added, “Similarly, I’m not exactly social. The things I usually like to do are all done alone. Like being online, reading books, listening to music and thinking about what might happen. ”
Zheng said of his other co-founder, Rubo Liang, that he is an invaluable partner for the organization who has created the company’s technology or hired and managed staff and managers.
Liang is now head of the human resources department at ByteDance.
The letter further states that the change of leadership will take place in the next six months in the interest of smoothing the transfer of responsibilities.
Founded in 2012, ByteDance’s TickTock platform has about 600 million active users a month.
