Apple’s Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2 models were recently banned from the market in the United States due to a patent dispute over the health technologies in the Apple Watch. However, the US Appeal Court suspended the ban, allowing the tech giant to temporarily start selling the two models again.
Earlier, the US International Trade Commission (ITC) filed an urgent appeal in the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit to suspend the ban. The reason for the ban was that Apple’s smart watch violated the patent of California-based medical technology company ‘Massimo’.
Massimo alleged that Apple hired its employees to steal the blood oxygen monitoring feature in the watch and used the knowledge of former Massimo employees.
However, when the ban was suspended by the Court of Appeal on Wednesday, Massimo’s share price fell by 4.6 percent, while Apple’s share price remained unchanged.
In a statement, Apple said, “We are thrilled to return the entire Apple Watch series to customers for the new year.” However, Massimo refused to comment on the court’s decision.
