Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) has organised this seminar on ‘SMART Bangladesh: Role of the ICT Sector’ to make the general public familiarized with the contribution that ICT is playing to act as the dynamic driving force for digitalizing Bangladesh and how it improvising every citizen of this country in creating SMART Bangladesh by 2041.
Samira Zuberi Himika; Senior Vice President, BASIS was the keynote presenter of this seminar who via her presentation has demonstrated how and why government and private technology organisation to execute the vision of SMART Bangladesh. The main key point of her lectures was the steps required to be taken to minimize the gap between our expectations and reality, by correctly integrating government, industry and academic.
Md. Forhad Zahid Shaikh; Chief Strategist, e-Governance, Team Leader- Digital Service Accelerator, Aspire to Innovate (a2i) has mainly discussed the systems to be followed in executing the teachings and lessons from our past experience while creating Digital Bangladesh, for the ultimate achievement of SMART Bangladesh.
Mahboob Zaman; Former President, BASIS in his short speech has profoundly connected the 5 elements derived from the abbreviation of SMART; Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time Bound with the reasons and efforts required to fulfill the vision of SMART Bangladesh by 2041.
Dr. Mizanur Rahman; Commissioner, BSEC via his speech has enlightened us about the ways to embrace the changes of SMART Bangladesh according to view point of the affiliated diversified groups of academics. In addition, he also discussed about the possibilities of SMART Bangladesh in smoothing and easing the functionality of the share markets in Bangladesh.
Professor Tanweer Hasan, Vice Chancellor, IUB was the guest of honour in this seminar who highlighted the importance of action oriented and practical oriented education and profession by relating it with academics and industry. Furthermore, he also explains the importance of the contribution of the young generation and women empowerment in building SMART Bangladesh.
Md. Mehedi Hassan; Project Director (Joint Secretary), EDGE, Bangladesh Computer Council, has elaborately described about the various mega projects to be implemented by EDGE to fulfill the dreams of SMART Bangladesh and how they are taking initiatives to turn it into a reality.
Md. Navid Saifullah; Additional Secretary, ICT Division; was the chief guest in this seminar who via his speech has enlightened us with the various contribution of the young generations to overcome the challenges in creating SMART Bangladesh. In addition, he has also naratted about the urgency to collaborated working of every industry in the country both in national and international
In conclusion, judging from the main gist of this seminar it can be understood that the in creating SMART Bangladesh, the most role of ICT sectors can’t be undermined in any possible way as it has now become an integral and separable part of our digitalised nation.
