Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSIC) has conducted a workshop on Beekeeping Development (Phase 1) using modern technology. Officials from Khulna, Satkhira and Bagerhat BSIC district offices, including 20 ‘honey industry’ entrepreneurs, were present at the workshop held at the BSIC Regional Center Khulna Conference Center on Saturday (February 26). A total of 37 people participated in the workshop.
The chief guest at the inaugural function was Nepal Chandra Karmakar, Director, Planning and Research, BSCIC.
Khulna Agricultural Extension Department Deputy Director Md. Hafizur Rahman, Dhaka BSCIC Planning Department (Acting) Deputy General Manager Md. Rashedul Rahman and Khulna Agricultural University lecturer Tushar Kanti Roy also took part as special guests.
BSCIC Khulna District Office Deputy General Manager (Acting) M. Enam Ahmed presided over the ceremony while the main article was presented by the Deputy Manager, (Planning) Md. Hafizur Rahman.
The article highlighted BSCIC’s activities, master plan, BSCIC’s contribution to the development of honey industry, existing status and problems of beekeeping, various activities identified under the proposed project.
At the workshop, beekeepers highlighted the problems of the honey industry and suggested that important issues be included in the project.
