Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) is going to look into the process of withdrawing the cache server so that there is no suffering at the customer level in using the internet as well as cracking down on illegal ISPs.
The commission is keen to take immediate steps to resolve all the crises of the service providers in this sector. BTRC chairman Shyam Sundar Sikder said this at a meeting of the ISPAB executive committee on Sunday.
According to meeting sources, neither IIG nor NIX operators are fully prepared to provide this service if the cache server is withdrawn. Moreover, if this server is removed from the marginal stage, the use of the Internet at the customer level will be negatively affected. In such a situation, it is proposed to keep the cache server with ISPs for at least one more year. The decision was demanded to reconsider the decision without withdrawing the servers of Google, Facebook and YouTube on July 31.
ISPAB Secretary General Imdadul Haque assured that the commission would hold an internal meeting and inform about the matter soon.
He said, the commission has already started work to identify illegal ISPs in the implementation of ‘One Country One Rate’. The meeting was also assured that a combing opertion would be launched soon againest illegal ISPs.
