Turkish Ambassador Mustafa Osman Turan to Bangladesh said that Turkish companies could benefit from investing in the IT/ITES sector of Bangladesh including high-tech parks. He expressed this hope at a virtual meeting held between the Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) and the Turkish Embassy in Bangladesh on the possibility of expanding bilateral trade and investment between two countries in the ICT sector.
In the meeting, BASIS President Syed Almas Kabir briefed about the current tax holiday in the ICT sector in Bangladesh till 2024. He also expressed that Turkish IT companies could benefit by investing in Bangladesh. In this case, they will be able to repatriate 100% of their profits to their country without facing any regulatory obstacle. He added that Bangladesh has a trained workforce of more than one million so, Turkey’s investment in this sector will be beneficial for both countries. BASIS is working to expand the international market for the ICT sector. We are optimistic that our future business with Turkey will grow.
Turkish Ambassador Mustafa Osman Turan said, Turkey and Bangladesh could work together in the ICT sector. He added that his office working to build a successful business relationship between the businessmen of two countries. Turkish companies can benefit by investing in high-tech parks in Bangladesh. We will extend all possible support to BASIS so that Bangladeshi IT companies can do business in the Turkish market easily.
Senior Vice President of BASIS Farhana A Rahman, said, “Europe is our primary market for the export of ICT products and services. Turkey can play a vital role in expanding our business in the European market.”
Bangladesh and Turkey have ample opportunities to expand their business in the ICT sector. If the businessmen in this sector work together, both will benefit. The current business environment in Bangladesh is better than ever. Both BASIS and the Turkish Ambassador to Bangladesh agreed that the special facilities provided by the government, especially in the ICT sector, would play a vital role in boosting business in this sector.
Joint Secretary Enamul Hafiz Latifee and Assistant Manager International Relations Nadia Tabassum of BASIS were also present at the meeting with the Turkish Ambassador to Bangladesh.
