The 5th bdSig ended on Saturday with the participation of internet world partners from 12 countries of the world. The school’s closing session focused on the severity of cybersecurity laws. The demands of the Digital Security Act have also been raised by removing the ambiguity of the Cyber Security Act with the participants in the discussion.
However, highlighting the rationale behind the cybersecurity law, the government was helpless despite having strict laws due to social media, said Mustafa Jabbar, Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, who was the chief guest at the event.
The Minister also said that it was time to focus on the security or privacy of personal information.
On the other hand, Hasanul Haque Inu, President of Bangladesh Internet Governance Forum and Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on the Ministry of Information, has suggested the immediate establishment of forensic labs besides the inclusion of IT professionals in the five divisional cyber courts set up in the country.
Inu also emphasized the ambiguity of coherence in various aspects of the existing penal code and the need to improve the efficiency of the implementing agency and control excesses. At the same time, he demanded the creation of a full-fledged digital law.
Supreme Court Advocate Khandaker Hasan Shahriar presented the keynote address at the concluding session.
Amader Gram director Reza Selim, South Asia Article 19’s Regional director Faruq Faisel, Dhaka University professor Dr. SM Shamim Reza, Fiber@Home Chief Technology Officer Sumon Ahmed Sabir, Supreme Court Advocate Farhana Reza and Telecom Reporter of Daily Samakal Rashed Mehdi were also participating at the session.
