The country’s most popular digital service platform ‘Pathao’ has appealed for the lifting of the ban on passenger transport on motorcycles through the app-based ride-sharing service. On Thursday, President Fahim Ahmed sent a three-page letter to the cabinet department in this regard. A copy of the letter has been given to the concerned people including the Minister of Road Transport and Bridges, Chief Secretary to the Prime Minister.
In the letter, the company also lauded the timely steps taken to prevent Kovid-19 infection and the government’s move to continue economic activities to ensure the safety of the lives and livelihoods of the people.
Fahim Ahmed, President of Pathao said, “the recent spike in COVID-19 cases in Bangladesh reminds us that our fight against the pandemic continues and that we must act responsibly and comply with health and safety protocols. We call upon the government to allow the resumption of motorcycle ridesharing service. As Bangladesh’s homegrown and largest digital services platform, Pathao is committed to enabling access to safe, reliable and affordable modes of transportation to consumers, and to providing income opportunities for the daily earners on our platform, whose livelihood are at the greatest risk during this time.”
He also pledged to ensure safe and reliable transport services considering the situation in the letter.
