The Supreme Court administration has extended the bail of the accused in various cases and the effectiveness of the interim court orders for the extended period of lockdown.
However, three dual and a single virtual bench of the High Court Division of the Supreme Court will conduct judicial proceedings of the Chamber Court of the Appellate Division two days a week during the lockdown period.
In addition, one Chief Judicial Magistrate / Chief Metropolitan Magistrate of each of the subordinate courts of the district and metropolis will conduct urgent matters.
This information was conveyed in a notification signed by the Registrar of the High Court Division of the Supreme Court Golam Rabbani on Monday (April 5).
The statement further said that due to the outbreak of Coronavirus, the activities of the Chief Judicial Magistrate / Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court have been restricted from April 5 to 11 and it has been decided not to conduct the proceedings of all other lower court tribunals.
However, as per the constitutional obligation, each Chief Judicial Magistrate / Chief Metropolitan Magistrate will perform their duties in the presence of one Magistrate in the court following proper hygiene and distancing rules.
