Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has declared that Bangladesh will stand by Bhutan in the field of information technology including broadband internet.
The Prime Minister made the remarks during a meeting with visiting Bhutanese Prime Minister Lotay Tshering at the Prime Minister’s Office on Wednesday (March 24). After the meeting, Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim informed the reporters.
The Press Secretary also informed that the Prime Minister expressed her aspiration saying, “Bangladesh will cooperate with Bhutan in the field of information technology including broadband internet.” She also hoped that “Bangladesh and Bhutan would work together in various international forums, including the United Nations.”
The press secretary said the two prime ministers discussed cooperation in various sectors between the two countries, including trade and connectivity.
It can be noted that according to the data of Speedtest, Bhutan is lagging behind Bangladesh in broadband. At the same time, during a courtesy call on Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar on a webinar recently, Bhutan’s Ambassador to Bangladesh Rinchen Quentasi expressed interest in importing internet bandwidth from Bangladesh.
