Four mobile phone operators, including state-owned mobile phone operator Teletalk, are set to participate in the spectrum auction on March 8, 2021.
Along with the 7.4 MHz of in 1800 MHz band, another 15 MHz of spectrum from the 2100 MHz band would be placed for auction in a hotel at Dhaka.
This was informed by the first meeting of the Wave Auction Evaluation Committee of the telecom regulator BTRC, which organized the auction on Tuesday (2 March).
The meeting held at BTRS verified the applications of four operators interested in participating in the auction. The commission would place the 7.4 MHz in five blocks and the 15 MHz in three blocks in the auction.
BTRC commissioner Abu Syed Diljar Hussain, chairman of the evaluation committee, confirmed, Four operators have applied for spectrum in 2100 MHz band and received a demand for 11.8 megahertz of spectrum in 1800 MHz band from three mobile operators. All applications and information have been correctly received.
The total spectrum of Grameenphone is now 37 MHz. After the merge of Robi and Airtel, The amount of Robi spectrum is now 36.4 MHz. Banglalink, on the other hand, currently has a spectrum of 30.6 MHz. And Teletalk has a 25.20 MHz spectrum in its hands. All operators have spectrum in different bands.
