The 76th founding anniversary of Engineers Institution, the oldest professional institution of the country, was celebrated on Tuesday (May 7) in Ramna of the capital with the vow of building a smart Bangladesh through various programs. On the occasion of the foundation anniversary, the ceremony started with the hoisting of the national flag and the IEB flag at the IEB headquarters at 8 am. A cake cutting and discussion session was held at 1:30 am. This program was conducted in 18 centers, 34 sub-centers and 14 overseas chapters of IEB.
5 demands were presented in these programs. It includes- Ensuring promotion and posting of engineers; Changing the current employment structure of polytechnic teachers; Recruitment of various engineering institutes (LGED), BCS Cadre, BCS Water Resources Cadre, BCS Telecom, BCS Textile Cadre; Creation of Engineering Wing in Prime Minister’s Office; Appointing Project Director (PD) of technical persons in various projects and coordinating all power sectors under PDB’s control.
The program of the foundation anniversary started with the hoisting of the national flag and IEB flag under the leadership of President of the Engineers Institution, Md Abdus Sabur and IEB Chief Patron Honorary General Secretary Engineer SM Manjurul Haque Manju respectively.
IEB Vice President Engineer Md. Shahadat Hossain Shiblu, Engineer Khandkar Manjur Morshed, Engineer Md. Nuruzzaman, Engineer Kazi Khairul Bashar, Assistant General Secretary Engineer Sheikh Tajul Islam Tuhin, Engineer Amit Kumar Chakraborty and Engineer Ronak Ahsan along with leaders of various departments, centers and sub-centres of IEB were present at the founding anniversary.
On the occasion of the anniversary of the establishment, Engineer Md. Abdus Sabur said that the engineers are strongly committed to the implementation of Prime Minister’s ‘Smart Bangladesh’ construction and Vision-2041, Delta Plan-2100. IEB is able to provide any advice on technology and science to the government. Engineers of IEB are always ready
IEB Honorary General Secretary Engineer SM Manjurul Haque Manju said, “We are making specific demands on behalf of IEB.” I am seeking the cooperation of the government to implement those demands.
Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) was established on May 7, 1948 under the slogan ‘Build a better world’. At present the number of IEB member is about seventy thousand.
