State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Mohammad Ali Arafat called upon the government officials to work with utmost loyalty to the state and the country by keeping the foundation of Bangladesh through the liberation war.
He made this call in his speech as the chief guest at the introduction ceremony of the newly joined officers of the 41st BCS (Information) cadre in the meeting room of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting at the Secretariat on Tuesday (April 30) in the afternoon.
The senior secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Md. Humayun Kabir Khandkar was present as a special guest in the event. Additional Secretary of the Ministry Md. Kausar Ahmed, Md. Mojibur Rahman and Tanmoy Das, Additional Director General of National Media Institute Sufi Zakir Hossain, Director Md. Nazrul Islam and others were present at this time. After the induction ceremony, the Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting extended felicitations to the 40 newly inducted officers of the 41st BCS (Information) cadre.
In the event, the Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting said that we should all be loyal to the thoughts and ideals that Bangladesh was born with. A country defines itself, what kind of country it will be. The definition of Bangladesh was created through the great liberation war of 1971. In this independent country, standing on the honor of three million martyrs and two hundred thousand victims, we have to stick to the definition that has been determined. There can be no compromise on this key point i.e., on the question of Bangladesh, on the question of the birth of Bangladesh. It has to think beyond party politics.
He also said that the state, the country comes first. Protecting the interests of the state is the main responsibility of government officials. However, in a democratic state structure, different parties with different political philosophies form the government at different times. There must be a responsibility to implement the vision or manifesto of that party. However, it is very important for government officials to perform their duties with laws, rules and professionalism. At any level of government, it is important to rise above nepotism and take decisions with professionalism and fairness. At the same time there needs to be an uncompromising approach to the interests of the country. Newly recruited officers should learn these things through practice.
He further said that those who are appointed to government jobs have become servants of the Republic. The owner of the state has become the servant of the people. New officers should work with that mindset. Discipline is very important in any organization. New officers have to maintain institutional order and hierarchical order. There should be no partisanship in administrative work but the government should be committed to strict implementation. This fine tuning is very important for government officials.
