Along with rail, road and waterways, the number of homebound passengers on Eid-ul-Fitr in the country is also increasing on domestic air routes. To meet that demand, from Wednesday (April 3), the airlines have started operating four airlines totaling 17 flights on Dhaka route from Syedpur, the only airport of Rangpur division. The number of flights has been almost doubled compared to normal times.
In this regard, Syedpur Airport Manager Suplab Kumar Ghosh said that the pressure of passengers on the Syedpur-Dhaka route increases a lot when Eid or festivals come. Considering these, the companies have increased the number of flights.
According to the sources, the companies will carry around 2000 passengers daily on the Syedpur-Dhaka route.
As conveyed from the sources of the air transport service provider, it has been decided to operate additional flights on Syedpur-Dhaka route. Four companies are operating regular flights on this route. The companies are US-Bangla Airlines, NovoAir, Air Astra and Biman Bangladesh Airlines.
According to Syedpur Airport sources, US-Bangla Airlines is operating five flights daily by increasing two flights on the occasion of Eid. NovoAir has added two flights on this route. The company is also operating five flights per day instead of three. Air Astra was operating two flights on the Syedpur-Dhaka route. They also added two flights. Biman Bangladesh Airlines was operating two daily flights on Syedpur-Dhaka route. But they will operate three flights on Eid. These flights will start from Wednesday (April 3) and continue for a week after Eid, the source said
