In order to prevent the evil stance of the middlemen in the daily commodities market, the government of Bangladesh is accepting complaints on the government hotline number 16121. The Directorate of Consumer rights Protection is also active in the field. However, as it is not possible to liquidate them, now a database of producers, importers and wholesale traders of daily commodities is being prepared. Online monitoring will be based on this database. An app too will be made.
Through this app, one can easily know how much an importer has imported a product, how much has been marketed or stored in the warehouse. Similarly, it will be known through the apps how many products are stocked or marketed by a wholesaler in the list.
Sources in the Ministry of Commerce said that the government is taking this measure to develop smart market management. The government believes that it will be possible to eliminate the existence of middlemen in the commodity market only through the smart application of technology. According to the government, the prices of goods go up due to the presence of the middlemen. They create shortage of products in the market by obstructing the supply in the hope of unethical profit. This increases the suffering of consumers and embarrasses the government.
To get rid of such a situation, the government is thinking of introducing an online system in the market management of daily commodities. The Ministry of Commerce has decided to launch a new app for this purpose. As part of the process, emphasis is being placed on collection of vouchers for the purchase of goods by retailers.
A license must be taken from the district administration to manage the market through the app. That license will specify who is a wholesaler, who is a retailer and who is an importer. The government will ensure identity through the app from the producer to the retail stage. It will clearly identify wholesalers and retailers. The deputy commissioner will keep track of who will wholesale which product through this license, how many products have arrived, how many products have been sold.
