The Children’s Research Fund program has been started from this year to make secondary and higher secondary students of the country interested in science research. The Science Popularization Society of Bangladesh (SPSB) is going to provide necessary support to the students of 6th-12th grades through this fund in their own research projects. The organization has jointly launched this research fund program with Maksudul Alam Science Laboratory (MASLab).
Last December, Children’s Research Fund was announced for the first time in the country. About two hundred school students submitted their research papers within the stipulated time. They submitted papers in physical sciences, animal sciences, technology and robotics, education, agriculture, and environment and meteorology. From there, 60 students were selected in the first stage. Those selected students attended two workshops to learn how to write research proposals. They then submit their own proposals along with the budget.
According to the SPSB sources, the best 7 students are selected in the final stage, whose research papers have come up with excellent ideas. Among them, 5 are girls and 2 are boys. Many of them have sent these research papers from many remote areas of the country like Sylhet, Chattogram, Jhenaidah.
On Friday in the morning, Dhaka University’s Department of Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering professor Dr. Khandkar Samaher Salam and Scientific Officer of Bangladesh Council of Science and Industrial Research (BCSIR) Mashrafe Bin Mubarak will hand over this fund to the little researchers.
